Specific Need
Riley City Library has several programs that happen throughout the year that are not covered with tax dollars. We would like to raise additional funds to help with Summer Reading Program, Summer Kid's Meals and Santa visits at Christmas time.
Our Summer Reading Program is a fun way to engage children in reading when they are not in school. In 2024, we had 49 kids sign up! We give out prizes for reading achievments. Additional funding would help to expand our Summer Reading Program by bringing in a host of performers in order to expand children's knowledge and encourage them to try new things.
We serve meals to kids ages 1-18 every Thursday in June and July. We serve 60-80 kids per week. Funds raised would help to offset the cost of these meals.
At Christmas time, we have Santa come to the library and we give out free books and crafts to kids that come to visit!
Our long term goals include expanding the library by installing an elevator that would enable more people to have access to the 2nd floor.
